According the the AP wire this morning, six people were found murdered in their home last evening in the Binghampton area. Four were adults and two were children. There were three other children taken to LeBonheur Children's hospital, all critical.
In the writing world, some high profile cases such as this, make for excellent mystery or suspense novels. Personally, I do not write crime fiction. I like the stuff that happens off screen, lighter than air, cozies. In my mind, I can see the scene, but would rather not have to describe it to a reader, leaving these images to the journalists.
My heart is wrung out for the families of these victims, and once again I shake my head at the horror that has become a city I once loved. When I was a child, and Elvis really was alive, Memphis was a town that thrived and jived. Now it is just another town with a statistical ranking of "most violent city".
