The Vegas Folies are Still Kickin'
The Folies Bergère is the longest running production shows in Las Vegas, nestled at the Tropicana Hotel/Casino for the last 50 years or so. That’s not counting the original spectacle in Paris, France (that’s the one with the real Eiffel Tower).
The name was a French word “folies,” derived from the Latin word for leaves (foliae), the idea being that it was an outdoor venue, combined with the name of one of the nearby streets, the Rue Trevise. A financial backer of the production who was a rich nobleman didn’t want anyone to think he was associated with a scandalous enterprise, so as a result it was changed to the present name on September 13, 1872, after another nearby street the Rue Bergere, a locale in the Montmartre that was the inspiration for Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's paintings and thereby immortalizing, the infamous Can-Can performance.

FFF, You would be amazed
Back a few years ago they had a 40 year reunion with 100 of the girls from the cast since 1957. It was truly incredible. And here in Vegas there is a group of citywide ex-show hoofers (that's hoofers I wrote-just in case Trick reads this), all over 60 years old that put on a yearly show dancing, stutting, and singing. The human spirit is indefatigable even if the flesh is out of shape! God bless them all, I just would like to be able to walk, much less dance. Lou Walters, Barbara's father was the Entertainment Director then. Here's a link for more detailed information for some famous people who were in the show
