New Launch Of IA - www.inspiredauthor.com - Learn to Write - Free

We are launching IA on a new platform. The site is bigger and better than ever, with more tutorials and articles, taught by people who are currently published, and/or working as freelance writers.

Our site has earned 2.2 million hits this year, with 1500 regular visitors each day. We are also building a forum, which I want to thank Communati for, because I hit a brick wall. This new forum will give readers a chance to talk to the Topic Editors and ask for help.

Membership costs $0.00 - so there is no reason to stay away. We believe we now have the largest 'online course' site that is 100% dedicated to writers.

So - here is my shameless plug - my test of our new icon - and my gratitude to communati for helping us turn our website into a community.

3 software programs (one static and one Content Management System and one third-party chat host service)

25 modules - drupal mainly

countless nodes - drupal

3 mailing lists - not drupal

and more than 1200 pages HTML static and more than 800 in the CMS

I don't know how many meg - but it takes more than one DVD to back it up. I also exceed my bandwidth every few months.

Oh Shocked

I use wowbb - but am a little upset that they ripped me off $100 and my domain name. They advertise that you can set up at their site - and move the blog - not true. They also KEEP your domain name when you leave. And, you pay $20.00 if you are Canadian a month, as well as $100 to buy the script - and another $100 to move it. Very expensive

I have used 2 drupal scripts - one works great - one is garbage.

I have used PHPbb and it is the worst thing on the net. It is supper time consuming. It takes a long time to remove spam... individually, and it is targeted by many (sick) types of p**n sites. I had to close it because, even thought I cleared the site out weekly, we were starting to get 50 spam members a day.

I also used SMF, and while it is easy to remove spam, and is not targeted as much as PHPbb, it was clumsy enough that most of the members abandoned the site after four or five months. For some reason, it also didn't come up when people surfed the web.

I also gave up on Mambo and Joomla - they are too confining.

I used to get heaps of spam, 99% was spam bots and it used to really p1ss me off until I added one little script change and whammo, no more spam bots.
