Hello to all of you. I hope you are having a great day like me.
I often wonder why each author writes the material they do. The ones writing science fiction or mystery novels intrigue me the most. Why? well, because although I have read many of those novels when young, they no longer hold my interest. My interest is held by real things. Anything straying very far from reality I turn off. On TV I am attracted by the National Geographic shows and travel shows. Both series often show places I have lived, worked or just visited.
I was born in 1943 and raised in the Pacific Northwest. I was educated by strict Sisters of Providence and Benedictine Monks. I pursued a colorful and adventurous lifestyle. I hired on with Army Audit Agency traveling extensively on and off the job. I worked and lived in 6 different US states, West Germany, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and the Marshall Islands. Traveled as a tourist to Canada, Mexico, India, Hong Kong, Macao, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Saipan, Guam, Wake Island, The Federated States of Micronesia, Greece, Ibiza Spain, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Dominica, Martinique and ended retired and living in the in the Philippine Islands. I always went native to learn the most he could from the local people. I write of my travel and living experiences with the peoples of those countries. I knows the best part of each adventure is what happens along the way to the destination. Life is filled with opportunities to experience people, places and things and the author did his best to enjoy life all the time.
I’m sure you will enjoy these books as much as I did re-living the experiences as I wrote them. Friends, reading the drafts said they couldn’t put them down and just had to keep on reading to discover the next adventure.
Check out Mobipocket.com for all my books as e-books. Go to mobipocket with Google or Yahoo search and search on McGoldrick. And, go to http://www.lulu.com/tjmcgoldrick7 , my storefront to see all my books and for previews and to http://mcgoldrickadventurenovels.blogspot.com/ for other previews and for other links to publishers and book sellers.
Um, I didn't say why I write. That is a long answer. First to share experiences. 2nd to document for my sons so they will know what their father did. Third to serve as lessons learned for my sons (what to do and what not to do).

Your career certainly brought you enough experiences...
...to write about. Sharing experiences as well as documenting one's life for one's family are both great reasons for writing.
I guess I feel that way, too, though I'm sort of like the guy telling ghost stories beside the campfire. I like spinning yarns and being a story teller (in print, not in front of groups).
