The early followers of Christ constitute mainly of family members and friends. If they preach the word coming from the mouth of Jesus in nearby places or town, they pick the elders in that place to lead them or be their religious leader. When they are learned about the teachings of Jesus, the apostles will let them decide what to do or govern their own flock of believers.
In the case of todays christian groups,it is different, after their preachings they see to it that they govern or manage the affairs of the local church. What is the reason? Is it money,or is it fame,or authority?
Money is not an issue in the time of the apostles, because they have their job as fisherman in the case of Peter and his brother.Fame is not an issue too.Authority, they, the apostles have the authority to see who is best fitted as a leader, or judge whenever there is conflct between two man.Other than that, the local resident of the particular group manage and govern their internal affairs freely.
The authority to rule is the qualities of modern christian groups, and this is where they failed to the teachings of Jesus. With authority, they gain money, fame, and political power, which is contrary to the teachings of Jesus. This is where you can discern if he is from God or from evil."Freely you receive, freely you give."
