Recently, I started taking our dogs for walks again. The past year we were so busy trying to put the house back together after a natural disaster that I became lazy about taking them beyond the pen and backyard. Not a good thing, I know.
Besides it being healthy and fun for them, it's healthy and fun for me. Of course, the time I choose to do this is right when it's starting to dive deeper into cool fall weather and will soon turn to a New York winter. Unless the weather that day is what we categorize as booger-freezing weather, I plan to go for walks every day.
For me, it's best if I go right after my daughters go to school. For some reason I'm hardly bugged by cold weather then. If I wait too long then I don't want to go. Rather sit home with a cup of cocoa and a good book in the winter.
As for the dogs, I'm pretty sure at least our Chihuahua/Husky/Shepard mix is going to need some sort of protective covering, as silly as it may sound, since she shivers even in summer, but she loves going for walks. Hmm. Our purebred Husky doesn't seem to know she's supposed to be winter dog either.
My husband has to take our Border Collie for walks because although Shadow listens to me when I take him he is hard of hearing if he thinks he needs to protect me from strangers. He doesn't bite, but he can look vicious. He doesn't do this if my husband comes along.
Anyway, yesterday I took Carmen (the mix) for a walk. This morning I took Natasha (three-legged Husky) and planned to take Carmen again, but it started pouring as soon as Natasha and I came home. If it clears up I'll take Carmen. She won't budge a foot outside if it's raining – the little coward! LOL
So there, I've posted it for everyone to see. That means I'll stick with it. Hey, my arms are getting a workout too since both dogs were more interested in trying to walk me at first before they got the hang of it. Serves me right for putting it off for so long.

Good exercise for everybody
Fortunately, I have cats. THEY walk whenever and wherever they feel like it.
TF
They sure do
Even across the keyboard when I'm writing a post.

My cats...
walk on me. I love my cats even though they walk on me.
I like dogs too, but I only have cats now.
Both my cats
Have routines. One runs in the bedroom the moment the alarm goes off to rub against us until we get up. Then meows a few minutes before bedtime and runs up before us.
The other cat has the routine of curling up on my legs when ever I sit on the couch with the laptop and put my feet on the stool.
