How Does Your State Stack Up On The Obesity Scale?

In the past couple of years, I have noticed more overweight people than usual, and newspaper and magazine articles on the subject of overweight and diets abound. However, it hadn't really hit me that a huge number of people in the united states are not merely overweight---they are obese.

A recent news article has a map showing the extent of obesity in the United States, and it is alarming. More than half the states in this country have an obesity rate of 25-30% or more. Colorado is the lone state that has below 20 percent. (Good for you ColoradoDreamer.) My own state of Oregon is in the 25-30% range. Check out your own area on the obesity map below.

This should be a wake-up call to all of us since we are shortly heading into the season most noted for over-eating.

25-30%

I'm in Illinois, current stats show 25-30%, which is scary but certainly not unbelievable. Even the kids seem to be heavier and more sedentary than ever.

It IS scary Inklings.

If this keeps up, we won't have to worry about terrorists--we will all be eating ourselves to death.
