Suburban Teens Meet Urban Outdoorsmen!

Over the weekend the youth ministers from four suburban congregations took some of their teens into Houston for a day of service that turned out to be very eye opening to them. They assembled at a warehouse that feeds homeless people in Houston. Rather than call them homeless, they Christians at the warehouse call them Outdoorsmen.

The Outdoorsmen live under bridges and any other shelter they can find. The weather in Houston is mild compared to many places, but winter nights can be uncomfortable for anyone stuck outside. The kids made sack lunches and took those, along with blankets to distribute in places most of them would never have dared go alone. They met the men and found them to be real people. They were challenged by one of the outdoorsman to be genuine in their faith, not to just spend one afternoon doing what is right, but to make it a lifestyle.

One of my friends took some video and put together a nice piece on You Tube. If you want a feel good story, take a few minutes to watch it!

It is cool, Darius

we want the kids, and ourselves to strive to be real

Practical Christianity

That's what it's all about.

Jellen, I have always been of the mindset that

if it was not practical, it is not genuine.

I thought the video was very well, silken

I wonder if it is as appreciated by those who do not know the kids involved.

Good work

That was a well-done video. I think it's meaningful even if you don't know the kids. A little upfront commentary in a voice over might set the stage for people who are watching from far away.

Thanks for the input, Trick Falls

I will pass it along to the guys. I think they can edit it without much trouble. I hope it is viewed a lot.
