PhotoPower, Photosynthesis Power, is what we call energy derived from plants that will fuel America's future. Orlando, Florida has educational attractions as well as the cartoon character theme parks that we all familiar with due to their television and magazine ads. SeaWorld and the new Aquatica park offer an educational as well as entertaining experience for your children who will be delighted by the watery inhabitants of our planet. If you have ever been vexed by the minute green plants that coat the glass of your aquarium or that you find growing on the walls of your swimming pool you are battling photosynthesis. The light that illuminates your aquarium and tans your skin while you are swimming is energizing chemical reactions inside each individual plant cell that makes up the Algae that you presently view as an nuisance. There is a company in Melbourne, Florida that will change your opinion about the tiny one celled plants, single cells that are going to change America's energy future for the better. (Even though gasoline prices have been falling for several weeks, hopefully a price trend is developing) PetroAlgae is developing a process to grow oil on farms using algae that produce up to half their weight in oil. You have heard of diesel fuel derived from soybeans, algae can provide a similar liquid after it is processed. Unlike the corn that provides the ethanol that is creating the food price increases we have become familiar with (Lay's Potato Chips used to come in 13 Oz. bags, which are now 12 ounces) algae does not require premium farmland. Algae can be grown in any depression that can hold water and gets direct sunlight. Add a dependable fresh water source (in Florida it rains almost every afternoon in the summer- Florida is the obverse of California rainy season wise) and you are in the algae growing business. There is an oil processing plant required, but it takes a lot less energy than processing soy beans into diesel or distilling ethanol from corn.
