
I grew up in a time when baseball was dominated by pitching and defense. I still love to watch a 1-0, 2-1, or 3-2 game more than a 10-7 home run hitting contest. I got to see one last night at Minute Maid Park. Ian Snell of the Pirates and Alberto Arias were the starters. On Thursday afternoon, I took three of my grandchildren to the ball game at Minute Maid Park in Houston. We always get to the park early, usually the kids go to the huge playground. But that day they did not open it because of a staffing problem. So we went down to the rail near right field, while the Cardinals were taking batting practice. It has been one of those seasons that make you sick if you are an Astros fan. Last night they got beat in Atlanta by a 12-3 score. It was the third game in a row of surrendering double figures runs, a total of 42 runs in the three games. read more »
