A long time ago, I taught language arts in a junior high school.  English and geography were merged into a two-hour block of time.  I remember giving my students outline maps  to fill in the names of different countries, and even had fun doing one along with them.  I had no problem recognizing each country by its shape---but that was then, and this is now.  read more »

Reading Around the World Reading Passport

I just came across a project that we did in our homeschool a few years ago. I called it a "Reading Passport". It was like taking a virtual field trip to a different country each week. I guess we did this when the kids were either in 2nd and 5th grades, or maybe the next year. It was a lot of fun and we all learned a little about a lot of different countries.  read more »
